News : Dean Blumberg features in Gunn Report

A single South African spot has appeared on this years prestigious Gunn Report, and belongs to Dean Blumberg’s First For Women commercial through agency Black River Football Club. “Taking the Piss” has been featured in the Gunn Report’s 100 Most Awarded commercials list worldwide for 2007. The Gunn Report carries immense weight globally in the advertising industry as it is a tabulated report based on points from all the major awards shows around the world. Basing itself on selected jury’s decisions and awards show points The Gunn Report is seen by the advertising industry worldwide “as true as ever to the ideals of great work.” Blumberg’s commercial features amongst the likes of Sony “Paint”, Dove “ Evolution” and Coca Cola “ Happiness Factory” and is the only South African commercial to feature.

This inclusion into the Gunn Report is another notch on a winning streak that started with Dean’s short film awards from all over the world, including, London’s World Short Film festival and Cannes. Now with just over a year of full time directing under his belt, his streak has not ended with additional spots for Netstar, and Ford scooping up accolades at several awards shows such as Clios, Loeries, Midas, Pendorings and Cannes, which saw Dean take home top honours at the Cfp-Shots Young Directors Awards at Cannes 2007. Blumberg has also recently been featured in the Shots New Directors Showcase and Shots South African creative Showcase.
